![]() Free riding is when the terrain allows you to ride where there is no trail, and you have the freedom to create your own line, never riding the same way twice and having an amazingly good time! Bolivia is a free rider’s paradise. In the higher altitudes, there is little plant growth, combine this with the scree and you have the perfect surface for free riding. Although the scree is only found in the higher altitudes, the free riding continues farther down as we pass through the ‘free ride fun park’ zone of pasture-grass covered bowls, half-pipes and ridges. There’s nothing like scouting as you go, hitting drops and jumps as you work the terrain to the best of your ability.
Please check the gear list to see what you will need to bring for the trip. For further general information on Bolivia please also look at our fact file.
Day 1: La Paz (3600m) – Sorata (2700m) We will pick you up early from your hotel and drive out of La Paz up to El Alto and to the dry arid Altiplano (4000m). Once we reach the pass of La Cumbre (4200m) we will start to bike our way down to the beautiful village of Sorata. Day 2: Sorata – Chu Chu (4700m) – Sorata We will drive up to the pass of Chu Chu and then start the freeriding down scree slopes of 100m too 200m long, we will have the opportunity to take small to large jumps although it is always easy to bypass the jumps and take other tracks down. Day 3: Sorata – Chu Chu – Sorata We will bike around the same area as the day before, but we will find different routes to cycle down. Day 4: Sorata – La Paz (4000m) We will leave Sorata after breakfast, and drive across the Altiplano. Once we have arrived in El Alto we will start to cycle down to La Paz. This is a great route through urban areas, and we will cycle down stairs and steep streets and we will ride all the way down to your hotel. There is only light traffic on this route.
