![]() Visit the mythical Lago Titikaka where early inhabitants believed the sun was born and the Incas saw it as the birthplace of their civilisation. You will be able to spend time in the quaint little village of Copacabana nestled between 2 hills on the edge of the lake. You will also have an opportunity to explore Isla del Sol, a place stepped in legend and several Inca ruins. This tour can be used to acclimatise to the high altitude before attempting one of the other tours that start or finish in Sorata or La Paz.

Day 1: La Paz (3600m) – Tiwanaku (4200m) – Copacabana (3820m) We leave La Paz early in the morning and drive through the Altiplano (4000m), passing the Cordillera Real on our right. This area is very dry but we will be able to see the campesinos (farmers) herding their llamas. We will make a visit to the ancient ruins of the Tiwanaku. After our visit we drive onto Copacabana, with a lunch stop in Tiquina, where we will cross the lake by boat. After a short drive we arrive at Copacabana, where we can visit the old Cathedral from the 16th century. Day 2: Copacabana – Isla Del Sol (3850m) – Copacabana This day we will make an easy trek along the lake seeing the people work the land. After a 5 hour walk we will get to the village of Yampupata. Here we take the boat across to the south end of Isla del Sol, where we will first visit the ruins of Pilko Kaina. After a short walk we will reach the village of Yumai, where we can see another impressive Inca site: Escalera del Inca. In the afternoon we take the boat back to Copacabana. Day 3: Copacabana – Sorata (2700m) Leaving Copacabana we have our last views of the lakeand we will drive back to Taquina, where we again cross the lake, and drive onto Sorata. We head over La Cumbre (4200m) and then drop down into the valley of Sorata, we follow the winding road to arrive in the relaxing and beautiful village of Sorata. Extras: This tour can be extended on Isla del Sol by 1 night which will allow you more time on Isla del Sol to enjoy the stunning scenery by walking across the centre of the island to the northern end, where you can visit the Chincana ruins, a labyrinth of stone walls and doorways. On the last day of the trip can be changed by going to Sorata.
