![]() This trek takes you from Mina San Francisco (4400m) in the Andes up to Apacheta Pass (4700m) in the Cordillera Real, where you will be able to see the Yungas stretching below you and Nevado Mururata (5868m) to your right. From here you will walk down the valley, passing old gold mining camps, beautiful lakes and gradually the vegetation will become denser as you walk into the Yungas - a transition ecosystem between the dry Andes and the humid Amazon Basin. Nearly all of the 40km pass consists of pre-Inca paving.
